Hi All,

I'm new to GR and so far I love the product. I'm certainly recommending GR3 to my Emergency Manager. However, while I really like the Volume Explorer in GR2AE, I'm hesitant to spend the $$ due to a weird problem I'm having. I've noticed that quite often when the radar updates are downloaded, I don't get all of the tilts. In many cases, I only get the first two tilt levels. As a result, I cannot view the 3D. However, if I exit the program and reload, most of the time I will get all 14 UPDATED tilts (VCP 11) and consequently, I get the 3D view again.

I must point out that it is not consistent. There are some times that it will update 2 or 3 times without fail and then fail on the next update. Is there a configuration issue that I'm missing? Is it slow or missing radar data? Or is it really a bug?

Thanks,

Lee Kuhlman

Sounds like there is some sort of "internet caching" software and/or hardware on your internet connection. It interferes will GR2Analyst's requests for additional data at the end of a radar volume file.

Check with your network admin and exclude your L2 data source from any internet caching scheme.

Thanks Mike!

I hadn't thought of that. I have been using my corporate connection to the Internet. I'll drop the VPN and go directly through my ISP and see if it rectifies the problem.

Mike

That fixed it! My company must be caching their Internet traffic. Once I took down the VPN, Volume Explorer is working perfectly. I've been watching a tornadic storm in Central IL for the last hour and have not lost any tilt data.

THANKS!!!

You can close the ticket now...lol.
